How to Setup / Install DAP-1320 Extender using dlinkap.local?

D-Link Extenders are very popular among the other routers in the Market. Its features have matured with its demand because of its affordable price and reliability.

Follow below steps to Setup D-Link Extender:

1: Within the wireless range of your router, Plug its DAP-1320,1325, etc. into the power outlet.

2: Open your computer and check the wireless utility on it. You will see the name (SSID) of the DAP-1320 network, and enter its password

Note: The credentials of DAP-1320 can be found on the Wi-Fi Configuration Card or on a label pasted on the base of the device.

3: Open a web browser and enter dlinkap.local or the IP address http://192.168.0.50. in the URL/address bar. 

4: If you are setting up the DAP- 1320, a Wi-Fi Connection Setup Wizard will automatically start. If not, enter Admin in the username field and leave the password field blank. Click Log In.

5: Once prompted, Tap on Setup Wizard.

6: Tap Next.

7: Either way, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) can be used for quick connection of your DAP-1320 with an uplink router. It will be a manual connection. To do it, from the Setup Wizard menu, choose the second option. Tap Next to continue.

8: Now you need to choose the wireless network to use as your uplink (source). Choose it from the list by clicking on it. Once selected, Tap Select.

9: It will ask you to enter the Wi-Fi Password of your uplink network. Tap Next to continue.

10: The WiFi connection will be broadcasted by the DAP-1320 via the uplink router as an extended Wi-Fi network. 

You need to set the SSID (network name) and its password for the extended network. In case you’d like your extender and WiFi network to have the same credentials then, check the box right under the fields. Tap Next to continue.

11: That’s it, Setup is complete. It is recommended to note down the details as shown on the summary page.

Steps to Reset D-Link WiFi extender via dlinkap.local

Method 1: Take a paperclip and straighten it. Now you need to insert this paperclip in a hole located at the base of your D-Link extender to press and hold the Reset button. Keep pressing it for 10 seconds until a LED will turn red. This proves that the device is rebooting. 

Once it is turned ON, wait for 30 seconds. Open a web browser and access the user interface via default IP address is http://dlinkap.local or http://192.168.5. Follow the instructions to reset the password if forgotten.

 

Method 2: If credentials are known.

  1. Through the homepage of the user interface of the D-Link extender, at the top right corner or the screen, a Management Tab  is there. Click it.
  2. Then from the drop down menu, tap on the System.
  3. Tap the Restore Factory Defaults button. A confirmation window will pop up to confirm theRest, it is more like a warning. Tap OK to proceed with the factory reset.

 NOTE:  There is no requirement of username password under the factory reset configuration interface. Leave the Admin Password field blank.

Step 1:  Open a web browser on computer or any device connected to D-Link router and enter http://dlinkap.local in the URL/address bar.
Step 2: In the field provided, enter your Admin Password. In case you’ve not changed the default settings, mainly its password, it should be left blank. Click Log In.   Step 3: On the network map, Tap the DAP-1320 Device icon. Its settings will be displayed below the network map. You will be able to see the password under the Extended Wi-Fi section.

How to Reset your D-Link Wireless Extender Password?

Step 1:  Open a web browser on computer or any device connected to D-Link router and enter http://dlinkap in the URL/address bar.

 

Step 2: In the field provided, enter your Admin Password. In case you’ve not changed the default settings, mainly its password, it should be left blank. Click Log In.

Step 3: At the top right-hand corner of the page, in the settings tab, select Extended Wi-Fi from the drop-down menu

Step 4: Here you can set a new password in the Password field. Click to save the changes made.
