How do I set up COVR- C1203 using D-link WiFi app?

This article will provide you instructions on how to setup D-Link COVR-C1203 using D-Link WiFi app on your ios or android smartphones or tablet. Before starting the process, make sure you have an active internet connection from your Internet service provider. There are two methods to set up COVR- C1203, one is through the D-link WiFi app and the other is via D-Link web interface or try “http://dlinkrouter.local

Before you start using your D-link COVR- C1203, you will need to configure internet and wireless settings. The D-Link free app helps you to install and configure COVR- C1203 AC 1200 from your ios or android mobile device.

To download the free app, search for D-Link WiFi on App Store or Google Play or you can scan the QR code from the product manual and the process is the same on both operating systems. Once the wireless settings are done, you can connect your devices from any corner of your home. Please follow the below-mentioned steps one by one. As a result, this process can take a few minutes.

NOTE: Make sure you have the necessary information about your modem from the internet service provider.

The network information may be required to complete the setup. 

D-Link WiFi Configuration

Setup using the D-link WiFi app

  • Download and install the D-link WiFi app on your ios or android device.
  • Once installed, open your D-link WiFi app on your mobile or tablet and tap on Install your device at the bottom.
  • Select devices– You will see the list on your device screen to choose your device name, tap on  COVR- C1203 and click on Next.
  • Choose ‘Create a new COVR network’ from the options and tap on next.
  • Hardware setup– Unplug the internet-connected modem. 
  • Get a yellow-colored ethernet cable and plug one end of the ethernet cable into the port labeled on COVR and “dlinkrouter.local”.
  • Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the port of the internet service provider’s modem.
  • After connected the wires, plug in the modem back and also connect the power of COVR into a nearby power socket. Please wait for the COVR boot up and once the COVR LED starts blinking orange, tap on next.
  • Connect your device– to continue the process, you need to connect your device on the COVR- C1203 network. Go to WiFi or network settings on your device and choose the default name of the COVR- C1203 network. 
  • The default name should be in the format of “D-link-XXXX’ or you can find the SSID on the label which is printed on the product. After connecting on the COVR- C1203 network, open the app again and click Next.
  • PPPoE information– In some cases, you might be asked to enter the PPPoE username and password provided by the internet service provider.
  • If you have already had PPPoE login information then enter it and tap on next, but if you don’t have a PPPoE username and password then we suggest you call your internet service provider to get the information.

Create a Network Username (SSID) and WiFi Password

On WiFi settings, you have to enter Network Username (SSID) and WiFi Password for your COVR WiFi system. After the setup, “http://dlinkrouter.local/” you can use this username and password to connect your wireless devices to your D-link COVR WiFi system.

NOTE– We strongly recommend you to create a strong password on your COVR WiFi system to secure your home WiFi network from unauthorized usage. Don’t use your first or last name or date of birth details, always use a combination of both numerals and letters. A minimum character should be between 10 to 15.

Create Admin Password– After setup the COVR username and password, now you need to create the Admin Password, which will be used to access the D-link WiFi App or web interface of COVR.

NOTE– This password is not your WiFi password. You can use the admin password only to access the router web-based homepage or use D-link WiFi App. At this point, the password must be between 6 to 15 characters.

  • On Setup complete screen, you will see the WiFi details such as username, password or admin password. Tap on Save to save the COVR WiFi settings.
  • Locate COVR points– Once the setup is completed, you can place the remaining two COVR points anywhere in the home.
  • To ensure the strong WiFi connection between the COVR points, please check the COVR LED indicator.

STEPS:

  • If the LED is showing solid white, that means “www.dlinkrouter.local” the signal is strong and if it is blinking amber, that means your COVR point is not receiving the signals.
  • Please refer to the following details to check the status of COVR LED’S.
  • SOLID WHITE– Connected and strong signal.
  • BLINKING AMBER– Signals note received on COVR points.
  • BLINKING WHITE– Connected but the signal is weak.

NOTE– If you are not getting a Solid white LED, please contact our support team to complete the setup.

Now you should see the Install screen on your device, which means your D-link COVR whole Home WiFi system is successfully setup.

Please click on Next to see the WiFi details to connect your devices on your COVR points.

 

Connecting devices

Connecting devices– Tap on Finish to complete the process. Now you can connect your devices on the wireless network “dlinkrouter.local/”. On this screen, you will see the username and password to connect your devices on any COVR points. 

Your process is now completed. You can enjoy the seamless network throughout your home without signal drop-out issues.

Before starting the process, make sure you have an active internet connected modem from the internet service provider and “http://dlinkrouter.local/ .

To COVR- C1203 setup via a web-based interface (UI)

  • Get a COVR -C1203 Covr point A router and plug-in into the nearby socket. plug the internet-connected modem.
  • Get a yellow-colored ethernet cable and plug one end of the ethernet cable into the port labeled A on COVR and plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the port of the internet service provider’s modem.
  • Please wait for few seconds for the device boot up.
  • Once the COVR LED starts blinking amber, go to your computer network settings and search for the COVR network name.
  • You can find the network name (SSID) on the backside of the COVR device or you can get information from the WiFi configuration card.
  • Launch a web browser on your computer and type “www.dlinkrouter.localinto the web address bar.
    NOTE– Do not type the web address into the browser search bar.
  • Once you entered the web address, it will redirect you to the welcome page of the setup wizard.
  • Click on Next to start the setup.
  • Configure your internet connection- A screen will pop to choose the type of internet connection you are using. Select it and click on Next at the bottom.
    NOTE– If you don’t know about your Internet connection type, please connect with the support team to know about internet connection type.
  • PPP0E Connection– if you are having  PPP0E Connection, you might be asked to enter the  PPPoE username and password.
  • If you have  PPP0E username and password then enter them and click on Next or if you don’t have this information, please call internet service provider.

Create WiFi Username and WiFi Password

  • On the WiFi settings page, you will need to enter the WiFi name (SSID) OR WiFi password into the required for your all COVR points.
  • You can use this WiFi password to connect all your wireless devices on all Covr points. After entering the details, click on Next.
    NOTE– We strongly recommend you to create a strong password on your COVR WiFi system to secure your home WiFi network from unauthorized usage.

    Don’t use your first or last name or date of birth details, always use a combination of both numerals and letters. A minimum character should be between 10 to 15.

STEPS:

  • Create Admin Password– After setup the  COVR -C1203 username and password, now you need to create the Admin Password, which will be used to access D-link WiFi App or web interface of COVR AC-1203
    NOTE– This password is not your WiFi password. You can use the admin password only to access the router web-based homepage or use D-link WiFi App.The password must be between 6 to 15 characters. Please make a note of the admin password, without this password you are not able to manage your router settings.
    In case you forgot the admin password, you may need to reset your router. It is advisable that you write it down somewhere.
  • Now you should see a page showing you all the WiFi details, make a note of all the important information and click on Next to continue.
    NOTE– If you want to change the WiFi details which you set up earlier, you can click on back and change the details.
  • Click on Finish to save the settings.
  • Your setup process is complete now. You can connect your wireless devices by using the WiFi username and password.

  • A login prompt displays on your screen to enter the Admin Password of your Cover. Enter the Admin Password which you set at the time of device initial setup process.
  • There is no default admin password for D-link COVR C-1203.
  • Click on Login.
  • Once you click on login, it will redirect you to the Homepage of your Dlink Router. You can check and change the settings from the settings.
